Mental Health-Station

* Information *

We’ve been asked on many occasions when we’re going to move into the world of ‘Blogging’ Well here we are pleased to report that the MHS Blog has just been launched and awaiting your comments and contributions.

The Mental Health Station website won’t be going anywhere for the foreseeable future, it’s been a really useful vehicle helping us to promote positive mental health and well-being and we’re not ready to let this dependable ‘friend’ go just yet.

It is likely that at some point we’ll be moving over to the Blog full time with a slow reduction in Mental Health Station website activity and like everything MHS must ring the changes and move with technological progress and developing the Blogging Station seemed the next step for us to take.

If you are a regular visitor to the Mental Health Station website you’ll notice that we’ve given it a bit of an overhaul because although it heads the charts in terms of search engine success it seemed a bit dated when placed alongside the Blog, so with its new look and fresh appearance it’s ready to help promote our move from a static site into an interactive one.

Designed and developed by a team of health care, educational and research professionals, Mental Health-Station brings to you a web site that does not focus on mental illness but on mental health. It's important to remember if you want to develop and maintain your physical health you probably won't go to see your doctor first, you are more likely to visit the gym, take up some form of exercise, maybe change your eating habits, or make subtle changes to your lifestyle.

Instead you may need to explore your behaviours, your relationships with other people, improve your communication skills and fulfil needs and wants in a more satisfying and effective way.

The list is endless and by no means exhaustive but here on our home page we’ve given you some idea on what you might need to look at if you decide to start maintaining your mental health and well-being in a positive way.

With at least one in six people experiencing some form of mental health problem during their lifetime it’s important to access a web site specifically designed and developed to help you understand and deal with variety of different and potential psychological issues.

The Mental health-station team offer a whole range of literature and audio material on mental health and well-being, from exploring and treating symptoms to awareness and training, we’d also like to remind you “that you are the expert on yourself”.

We’ve kept all of our site information jargon free, easy to understand and believe that we’ve got the mix between creativity and rigour just about right, enabling you to enjoy looking after your mental health rather than viewing it as a chore and something you might start doing tomorrow.

There is something on this site to suit all tastes and the mental health- station team are dedicated to making sure that it is updated regularly and stays abreast of changing trends.

This means if you don't see something you want now keep checking us out, or alternatively why not contact the team direct and we'll make every effort to either provide the information or signpost you to the appropriate place.

Here's a 'flavour' of what to expect when you take a tour of the mental health-Station website.

Pick up the 'Muroidean Chronicler' a cross between fact and fantasy, delivered quarterly to the mental health station site. In the winter edition learn about the origins of the mental health-station web site and read the interview with 'Professor Mus Musculus' (Melvyn) at his home 'Oak Hollow'.

The inhabitants of this garden are just waiting to tell you their story and all you have to do is open the page and let your imagination do the work. Enjoy…
Check out the station 'Station Waiting Room' it’s here you’ll find out which pages on the site are complete, those under construction and anticipated proposals for the site. Additionally if you’ve got something you want to advertise then you’re welcome to post it on the advertisement board in the waiting room.

Look out for the 'Station Specials Board' it’s here we’ll have new articles in 'pdf' format available for you to read or download from the mental health-station site.

Would you like to get involved with mental health-station? then the ‘Big Book of Mental Health’ page is for you. The aim of the Big Book of Mental Health and Well-Being (Straight from the Horse’s Mouth) is to collate stories, poems, photographs, techniques, strategies, self-help and educational material using a worldwide source.

If you feel that self-help material isn’t what you’re looking for at this time and you want a more traditional form of communication you can access a range of different psychotherapeutic techniques. Why not visit 'In the Sidings' the mental health-station consultation suite?
